Once upon a time, in a far-away land called Japan, an automobile was born. Now this was no ordinary vehicle. This vehicle was called the Nissan LEAF and it was the greenest and cleanest in all the land. From the beginning, the LEAF was given a special purpose: deliver electric mobility and performance to all the consumers of the world, saving them from the evil gas pump and its sky-rocketing prices. One day, however, its parent company realized that in order for the LEAF to fulfill its purpose, the beloved vehicle needed help getting from its home land to dealerships across the globe. So, it came to be that the Nichioh Maru, a cargo ship as eco-friendly as it is strong, was created. And the two innovative Nissan vessels traveled happily and greenly ever after.

Did you enjoy that fairytale? Well, the best part about the tale of the Nissan LEAF is that it isn't a magical fable...it's entirely true. Ever since the LEAF was born in 2010, it has created a legendary reputation for bringing electric mobility to the mainstream market. Just recently, Nissan decided to help further its green cause by building an eco-friendly cargo ship called the Nichioh Maru. Complete with 281 energy-saving solar panels, the seafaring Nissan vessel has the ability to haul up to 1,380 new Nissan vehicles at a time and saves over 1,300 tons of fuel per year.
