New Nissan EV Quick Charger soon to be available in US

Nissan has been talking about developing a new quick charger for Electric Vehicle like the LEAF, for some time now. And, now they have recently announced that a production-model charger is on its way. Coinciding with the unveiling of the new technology, the Japanese automaker divulged plans to bring their new quick charger to market, starting this November.

To start, Nissan will make the quick charger available only in Japan through their part suppliers. This way, the Asian automaker, will help promote the development of the EV quick-charging infrastructure within Japan. The goal is to sell 5,000 units of the new quick charger within the next five years.

We know that Nissan already sells a quick charger in Japan, for an approximate price of $19,123, so how does this new charger compares to its previous version? First of all, it's half the size, easier to install and will start well below the suggested retail price of the Nissan EV charger currently available.

But the most notable benefits of the new Nissan EV quick charger are:
-     Weather resistance (can be used in rainy weather and is designed to meet 3 distinct specifications: base, standard and cold weather),
-    Dedicated safety features (monitoring against a potential short circuit)
-    Universal compatibility (compatible with the LEAF and EV's from other companies).

The Nissan EV quick charger will be available in Japan first, but  "Preparations are also underway for future sales of the new quick charger in the U.S. and European markets," has declared Nissan, in a recent press release.1
