Nissan EV Charge Time of 10 Minutes by 2021

We wrote  about the new Nissan EV quick charger (to be available in November in Japan), in our Nissan blogs recently.

Even before this new quick charger is available on the market, the Japanese auto maker is already working on developing a newer technology to decrease charging time even more. Nissan ultimate goal is to develop a system capable of fully charging Nissan electrics and plug-ins, in just 10 minutes!

Working with researchers from Kansai University in Japan, Nissan wants to achieve this aggressive goal, as soon as possible. The automaker thinks that it might find success by slightly modifying the charger's capacitor. What they are actually replace the carbon electrode with another one made of tungsten oxide and vanadium oxide.

As we know, charging time is one of the biggest challenge for "green" carmakers. The shorter the charge time, the more interesting it will be for drivers to invest in an EV. Nissan is expected to officially launch the 10-minute quick-charging technology by 2021, at the latest.

So the question would now be: Is a worth waiting 10 years, for a 10-minute charge time? We at Hunt Nissan in Chattanooga, TN thinks so. But you don't have to wait that long to test drive a Nissan EV. Call us at 1-888-226-0783 or contact us online  today!
