Nissan Continues to Deliver Advanced Safety Features

Imagine having the power to go back to that critical moment before an accident takes place and make one change. What would that change be? For those who, at one point or another, have found themselves needing to stop at high speeds, there's a good chance you wish you would've been able to correctly operate the brakes. Fortunately, Nissan has read your mind. In fact, Nissan has been reading your mind for the past six years.

Since 2005, our favorite automaker has equipped all new Nissan models with Brake Override Technology. While many vehicles come with post-accident safety features such as comprehensive air-bag systems and seatbelts, Nissan models are the only vehicles with the ability to act fast during that aforementioned "critical moment." Brake Override Technology works by giving more weight to the brakes than the acceleration. This means that when a driver panics at high speeds and accidentally hits both gas and brake, the safety system steps in and allows the brakes to successfully do their job.

Though safe driving certainly depends a lot upon safe braking, there are times when the vehicle needs to be rapidly shut down altogether. For these circumstances, Nissan devised a second system. Properly dubbed "Emergency Engine Shut-Off," this technology allows a driver to halt the engine at the push of a button. In order to make sure that the system activates only when necessary, it requires users to either hold the button in for at least two seconds or push it at least three times.

As we said before, Nissan models have contained this technology since 2005. But Hunt Nissan believes it's always nice to give consumers a little refresher, especially when it comes to such an important, potentially life-saving feature.
