Sales numbers for March are out and they revealed that the Japan's second-largest automaker, Nissan has achieved a healthy 9.7 increase in U.S. market share.  This represents the highest single-month growth in the company's history. What is even more impressive, is that Nissan U.S. vehicles sales jumped 27 percent, marking another monthly record.

"This [March] was our best month ever,"¹ said Al Castignetti, Vice President of U.S. Nissan-brand sales. Castignetti also added that while the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan has slowed production of some models, Nissan still had about a 50-day supply of vehicles to begin April.

Among Nissan's lineup, the Nissan Altima performed particularly well, taking the prestigious title of "Best-Selling Sedan in America" for the first time ever. To earn this designation, the Altima comprised 32,289 units of Nissan's 121,141 unit total, representing a 27-percent jump over figures from March 2010!
